Phoebe Bridgers Is Taking the Listening Party To Another Planet
The sad-girl soundtrack of the fall is getting the star treatment.
The prophecy is coming true: it's officially shaping up to be a Phoebe Bridgers fall.
Ahead of the release of her third solo album Lost Weekend on Aug. 14, Phoebe Bridgers is taking over planetariums around the world for a series of immersive listening experiences that'll let fans hear the record in full before it officially drops. Beginning Aug. 10 through Aug. 14, participating venues across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand will transform into giant celestial listening rooms, pairing the album with custom dome visuals by acclaimed night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi or immersive laser shows created by Laser Fantasy.
Staying true to her previous no-phone policy, Bridgers is keeping phones strictly out of orbit: The experience requires all devices to be securely locked in Yondr pouches before guests enter the dome. The screenings will take place at more than 40 planetariums, including Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, Chicago's Adler Planetarium, San Francisco's Morrison Planetarium, Miami's Frost Museum of Science, and Boston's Museum of Science, among others.
And if one communal cry session wasn't enough, Bridgers is also hosting more than 300 midnight listening parties across the globe on Aug. 13, with fans gathering everywhere from the U.S. and Canada to Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, and beyond to welcome Lost Weekend together the moment it arrives.
Bridgers’ planetarium experience is the latest in a growing trend of IRL album rollouts, with artists including Charli XCX turning first listens into immersive listening events. In an era where streaming makes new music instantly accessible, these experiences are bringing back the anticipation — and community — that comes with hearing a record together for the first time.
Tickets for the planetarium screenings are available now, while details for the worldwide midnight listening parties can be found on Phoebe Bridgers' official event page.
